The Perfect Time for Some Self Reflection With Sue Clement

Can you believe it? 2023 is at the halfway point!

Which means that NOW! is the perfect time for some self reflection…

Every June I schedule time for a Mid-Year Review where I stop to consider the choices I’ve made (or not), the things I’ve done (or not), paths taken (or not) and the results achieved (or not).

No judgements… just reflection. A simple assessment of the past 6 months.

First, look at your numbers. Here are some basic ones to consider:

  • Revenue
  • Expenses
  • Profit
  • Clients gained/lost
  • Retention % rate
  • Sales conversations #/closing ratio%
  • Any other KPI’s you track

Then analyze your Marketing.

What worked, what didn’t? You’ll want to rinse & repeat the successes and delete or edit the missteps.

Finally write out (not just think about) the answers to the following:

  • What were your accomplishments or wins (life & biz) YTD? Nothing is too small to list. Don’t be hard on yourself and diminish your successes by chalking them up to luck, karma, the full moon or that others helped you. What you celebrate expands.
  • What were some of the greatest challenges (life & biz) you faced these past 6 months?
  • What are some of your biggest learnings or insights?
  • Where did you go the distance?
  • Where did you stop yourself short of the finish line & reward?
  • Where are you holding yourself back or being the bottleneck in your business?
  • List one behavior or activity, that if you did consistently, you believe would make the biggest impact in your business.

Regardless of how the past six months have been, this is your opportunity to take stock.

Without judgment assess your results, embrace them for their life and biz lessons, and then fully let it go of what no longer serves you moving on.

I look at the second half of the year as a fresh start…

You get to decide ultimately where you want to get to, what to bring and what to leave behind.

Some goals may stay the same, some you may decide to adjust, and even some may not be relevant or even fit anymore so it’s time to clear them off the list & let them go.

As you look forward to the remainder of 2023…

  • What are your financial goals you’re targeting?
  • What KPI will you track & measure?
  • What marketing strategies you’ll focus on?
  • List any new products or service you plan on launching?
  • Any new team members you want to add?
  • What skills do you want to develop?
  • What habits do you want to implement or release?
  • List any tasks or responsibilities you plan on outsourcing?
  • Are there any new systems or procedures you want to implement?
  • What investments or major purchases do you plan on making?
  • How do you need to show up or be different? Anything you need to start (or stop) doing?
  • What support do you need to be more successful?
  • And reflecting on this, it’s time to write (yes, write!) out your new goals & commitments to finish off 2023 strong.

After you’re mapped out your goals. If you’re like me, there may be many things that come to mind both life & biz. My pro tip is to sort thru them and select ONLY 2 or 3 at a time to focus on. Any more than that & you’re likely to lose focus & minimize your success.

I find that if I aim to “do less and focus more” my results greatly increase.
