All Websites Need to Get SSL to Avoid Security Warning in Google Chrome.

Are you seeing an unsecure site icon in the address bar for your website? Even if you do have a shopping cart, and are not collecting sensitive information, google is starting to show a warning on most websites if you do not have SSL.

SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browser remain private. If you have SSL, your link will be HTTPS instead of HTTP.

What visitors see when accessing your website is changing. People using a Google Chrome browser in “Incognito” mode will get a security warning for every site they visit that isn’t protected with an SSL Certificate. And any site that collects user information, whether in incognito mode or not, will be labeled as “Not Secure”.

An SSL Certificate will encrypt your visitor’s sensitive data, and also display your site with “HTTPS” in the address bar, letting visitors know you’ve made their security a top priority, and will avoid a “Not Secure” label on Google Chrome.

Let us know if you need help getting this in place. Some hosting companies will set it up for you. You may need a developer to change over settings on website.
